I Feel Great!

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives.

By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished." So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a bottle of Kahlua, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel.

Please pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace Have a great day!

P.S. This is from an e-mail I received today. I have no idea where it is originally from

Band Of Brothers

As I have mentioned in Bells on a Starry Night in the post Groesbeek Canadain War Cemetery; I have no direct memories of World War II

Part of my connecting with the war has been by visiting various significant sights. I was fortunate to to see Arnhem and the John Frost Bridge this summer.

This evening The History Channel is re-showing Band Of Brothers The series followes Company E or "Easy Company" as they were known through their training landing at Normandy and then their experiences through Operation Market Garden.

Operation Market Garden was fought in and around Arnhem and Nijmegen.

For the men of Easy Company and all the soldiers who fought for our freedom
Thank you

Take Off Eh!

Bob and Doug McKenzie welcome you to The Great White North

2-4 years...holy cow!

I was........much younger than I am now when they were first on tv.

A couple of "Canadians" sitting around drinking beer, and calling each other "hosers"

These two became the Canadian identity all over the world. Pretty scary if you ask me.

We don't all wear flanel, or wear tuques (or toques) we don't all eat back bacon....well I can go on, but I won't...unless you want me to.

Want to make your friends think you're Canadian, when you meet them say,

"Howzit going eh?"

So, Don't be a hoser, and get me another beer!

Woody & Arlo

Sometimes TV is NOT [...] the opium for the masses (Karl Marx)

PBS's American Masters series presented the biography of Woody Guthrie, an American folksinger, songwriter, artist, newspaper columnist and father.

He died in 1967 from Huntington's disease.

You've never heard of him, I bet you've heard some of his songs.
This Land Is Your Land

American original
This land is your land This land is my land
From California to the New York island;
From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and Me.

Canadian Variation
This land is your land, This land is my land,
From Bonavista Vancouver Island
From the Arctic Circle to the Great Lakes waters,
This land was made for you and me.
His writings and recordings are archived in the Woody Guthrie Archives and in The Library of Congress. The Official Woody Guthrie Website has more information and links to his life and work.

Arlo is Woody's son, from his second marriage. Arlo is also a singer and songwriter; his most famous song is Alice's Restaurant a satirical protest against the Vietnam War draft.

Arlo's web site is ArloNet with all the usual stuff, biography, discography, pictures, links and more.

User Friendly the Comic Strip - The Daily Static

This is the story of a small web development company, in other words...a room full of geeks.

I have been reading the comic strip on and off since it was first created in 1997; full of geek humour and and other "inside" jokes.

Its worth a look.....if only to impair your productivity.
